Fuel duty ‘ranks’ higher than national insurance as a worry
More people are concerned about the effect of increased fuel duty on petrol prices than they are about a possible rise in national insurance.
Ahead of the general election, a MORI poll carried out on behalf of the RAC offered voters the chance to list four taxes in terms of priority.
The survey of a 1,000 adults found that income tax was regarded as very or fairly important by 74 per cent.
Next on the list came fuel duty, with 69 per cent saying it was very or fairly important.
VAT achieved 64 per cent, while national insurance came in fourth on 62 per cent.
